Research articles, Short communications, Research notes and Review articles in all fields of Science and Technology, Management and Social Sciences are accepted any time during the year to be considered for publication.
The manuscript should be free of errors and formatted according to Ruhuna Journal Template document . Manuscripts, declaration page and all correspondence should be submitted on-line using MS Word and a copy should be sent to the Editor-in-Chief through editor_jur@admin.ruh.ac.lk by informing the running title of your manuscript. Authors will be informed of the receipt of the manuscript by email.
Declaration page
Should include the title of the paper (must not exceed 100 characters), names and affiliations of all authors, including the e-mail address, contact telephone and fax number of the corresponding author.
Manuscript Layout
The manuscript should be typewritten using double-spaced text of Times New Roman 12 font throughout on one side of A4 size paper, leaving at least 1.25 inch margins on both sides and 1 inch margin on top and bottom with proper numbering of pages. The layout of the manuscript should be as followed.
Format of the Manuscript
Title: Title of the paper (less than 100 characters) -No author names or author affiliations here.
Abstract: Should not exceed 250 words. No references to articles, equations, diagrams, etc. Should only include a summary of objective(s), methodology and important results/conclusions. Should be written in one paragraph.
Keywords: maximum of six keywords, relevant to the study
Introduction: Should include a brief description of the reasons for conducting the study including the background. References to any previous work related to the study by the same author or any other authors should be included. Give reference to any conference presentation (oral or poster) of the same or the part of the work given in the paper (with the titles and the name of the conference/meeting in the reference section).
Materials and Methods: Details of how the study was carried out should be included here with complete description of any new methods/procedures. If an already established method or methods followed, proper reference(s) should be given. Methods of statistical analysis should be stated appropriately. Any sketches/diagrams relevant to study methods/procedures could be given as relevant.
Results and Discussion: The results should be presented briefly, but clearly and rationally. Only the data essential for the main conclusions should be included, in tabular form, whenever possible. Interpretation of data with proper discussion needs to be included here. Repetition of the same results in figures, tables or text should be avoided. Statements that do not supported by data should be avoided. Tedious discussions should be avoided. Tables, figures, etc. should be attached to the end of the manuscript, after references with proper numbering.
Conclusion: All new conclusions drawn should be included here. If earlier findings or conclusions get revised, proper references should be given.
Acknowledgement: Should be brief and made for specific scientific and technical assistance only and not for routine help in preparing manuscripts. If a significant part of the research was performed in an institution other than in those indicated by the authors’ affiliations given in the title page, this fact should be acknowledged.
References: References to the literature must be indicated in the text and tables as per the APA System (7th Ed. https://apastyle.apa.org/instructional-aids/reference-guide.pdf), by the author’s name and year, in parenthesis (i.e. Leskowitz, 2017). Citation to work by more than two authors should be abbreviated with the use of et al. (i.e. Scott et al., 2017). Multiple works by the same first author in the same year should be coded by letters, (i.e. Scott et al., 2017a). Multiple citations should be listed in chronological order and separated by a semi-colon, (i.e. Barton & Bryant, 2015; Calhoun et al., 2018; Goodwin, 2019). Reference to unpublished work, work in preparation or work under review, title should be cited in italics as [Unpublished manuscript]. [Manuscript in preparation], [Manuscript submitted for publication]; such works should not be included in the Reference section. Personal communications may be mentioned in the text as (personal communication, January 12, 2020), with the date of communication. The list of references should be arranged in alphabetical order. Please use following guide when listing references.
